"Journal of Modern Jewish Studies has inaugurated an annual essay prize for scholars in the early stages of their career. Papers are invited on topics in Jewish history, social studies, religion, thought, literature and the arts from the 16th century to the present day. They should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere, and should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere, and should not be submitted to any other journal until the outcome of the competition is known."
The prize includes a cash award of £150 ($244 USD) and publication of the winning essay in Journal of Modern Jewish Studiese as the opening article for the July 2011 issue.
